Cover charge earnings estimator
The Rythm Cover Charge Earnings Estimator is a free, client-side utility that projects monthly and annual earnings from cover-charge payments at a chosen pay-through rate. You enter the number of unknown senders per day, the cover-charge amount in dollars (default $0.04), and the percent of strangers you expect to actually pay (default 25 percent). The tool multiplies the inputs to produce daily, monthly, and annual net dollars. Cover-charge payments settle directly to the recipient Lightning wallet via the Cashu ecash protocol; Rythm sets aside a small safety buffer to cover Lightning routing fees and the rest is yours. Most strangers will not pay, so a 25 percent pay-through assumption is conservative. The cover charge is structural friction, not a primary revenue source for the inbox owner; the main product value is the bouncer at the door, not the till behind it. The estimator is pure JavaScript: nothing about your traffic is transmitted to a server. The output is directional, not a forecast; real-world traffic spikes around launches, press hits, and conference seasons can swing the number 5x in either direction in a given month.
What pay-through rate should I assume?
Most strangers will not pay. 25% is a reasonable starting estimate.
Where does the cover-charge money go?
Each payment settles directly to the recipient Lightning wallet.
Can I set a higher cover charge?
Yes. Higher charges discourage more strangers, so the pay-through rate also drops.
Is the cover charge the main product value?
No. The main value is gating unknown senders.
