for outlook

Rythm for Outlook. A bouncer that complements Safe Senders and Focused Inbox.

An email paywall for Outlook and Microsoft 365. People you know reach you at no extra cost. Unknown senders pay a small cover charge you set, and the money settles straight to your wallet. Connect with Microsoft sign-in. We never hold your money. $1.65/month.

compatibility

Works with any Outlook.

Personal, business, custom domain. If you can sign in with Microsoft, Rythm works.

Personal Outlook

@outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com accounts.

Microsoft 365

Custom domain accounts on Microsoft 365. Tenant admin approval may apply.

Any Outlook with OAuth

Anything that supports Microsoft OAuth and the Microsoft Graph API.

Rythm runs as an additional layer alongside Outlook’s native Junk Email filter and Focused Inbox. It doesn’t replace or disable either one.

setup

Connect your Outlook.

Four small steps. Most of it is the auto-build, and that runs in the background.

01

Sign in with Microsoft.

Rythm uses the standard Microsoft OAuth flow.

02

Review the minimum permissions.

Mail.ReadWrite (read incoming unknown-sender messages, apply categories), Contacts.Read (used during the one-time guest list build), plus offline_access, openid, email, profile, and User.Read. Rythm doesn’t request Mail.Send and doesn’t send mail from your account.

03

Let the guest list auto-build.

The four-phase scan runs 8 to 10 minutes: flagged, contacts, sent folder, inbox frequency.

04

Set your cover charge and wallet.

Pick the amount (default ~$0.04) and connect a wallet. Done.

compatibility note

Rythm + Focused Inbox don’t conflict.

Focused Inbox splits your inbox into Focused and Other based on Microsoft’s own sorting. Rythm asks a different question entirely: is this sender on your guest list? If not, did they pay the cover charge?

Run them together. Focused Inbox handles triage within senders you’ve already approved; Rythm handles the door for everyone you haven’t.

the gap

Why Safe Senders isn’t enough on its own.

Outlook’s Safe Senders list is capped at 510 KB of combined entries across blocked and allowed lists (roughly 2,000 to 5,000 entries depending on domain length) and requires manual maintenance. You add each sender yourself, and there’s no mechanism for “auto-approve people I’ve emailed before.”

Rythm fills the gap: an auto-built guest list (no maintenance, no size cap) plus a small cover charge for everyone who isn’t on it yet.

what changes

What happens inside your Outlook.

Two new categories. Nothing else moves.

RYTHM: PAID

Paid mail lands in your inbox.

Unknown senders who paid the cover charge. Delivered to your inbox.

RYTHM: REJECTED

Unpaid mail waits in line.

Unknown senders who didn’t pay. Held for review. Nothing is deleted.

These are standard Outlook categories with color coding, visible in Outlook web, desktop, and mobile.
